Get started!Make your wreath pop
A traditional wreath of pine or greenery can look bland against a black or brown door. Give it some pizzazz with a pretty bow, red berries, faux fruit, or colorful ornaments. Another option is to spray-paint a few sprigs of pine or cover some magnolia leaves in gold or silver and weave them into the existing wreath. Your guests will absolutely love it!
Pre-lit, battery-powered wreaths are a good investment to bring out year after year and redress with new decorations. Or, you can trade the greenery in for something new. Wreaths can be made of anything you enjoy — peppermints, tinsel, or paper snowflakes. This holiday season, there are no limits.
For a finishing touch, place a floodlight on your lawn to highlight your door even more. It makes a warm and welcoming statement and ensures your decorations are noticed both near and far.
Think outside the wreath
Instead of a traditional wreath of greenery, hang up a pair of bells or dangle some cute mittens that your kids have outgrown. Then, fill them with sprigs and berries.
If you’re looking for something like a wreath but with a unique look, take a walk around your yard and clip a few boughs of evergreen or magnolia. Wire them together in a loose bundle, add some pine cones, and adorn with a bow. It’s amazing how mixing a few of Mother Nature’s finest things can make a bold, beautiful statement.
Show guests that their presence is the present
There are an endless number of holiday door decorating ideas out there these days. Another way to have your front door make a statement this winter is by wrapping it with a bow. Purchase or craft an extra-large bow from wide, wired ribbon. Run the ribbon horizontally and vertically to mimic a wrapped package. If you have a winter door seal, it’s best to remove it while you tie your bow around the door, then put your door seal back on once you’re finished to ensure your door stays properly winterized. Finally, if you’re feeling extra ambitious, wrap the door itself in shiny holiday paper.
