Window World Donates $500K to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Donations from Window World Cares for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Surpass $10 Million
N. WILKESBORO, N.C. (September 4, 2019) — Window World® is excited to mark the beginning of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September by donating $500,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. This donation will bring Window World’s total contributions to St. Jude to more than $10 million.
Window World, America’s largest replacement window and exterior remodeling company, has been contributing to St. Jude through its charitable arm, Window World Cares®, for over a decade. The company is proud to acknowledge Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by contributing to the hospital’s efforts to help children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
"We are incredibly grateful for Window World’s deeply held commitment to the lifesaving mission of St. Jude. This gift of $500,000 is a powerful start to Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and reflects Window World’s continued support of the research and treatment at St. Jude that benefits children everywhere,” said Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude. “Since 2008, Window World’s constant support and involvement in programs like the St. Jude Walk/Run and St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway have inspired people nationwide to unite under a shared goal that is much bigger than ourselves."
Chairman and CEO of Window World, Tammy Whitworth, and her late husband, Todd, started Window World Cares in 2008 — inspired by the premature birth of their first child, Anna Grace, in 1999. Anna Grace spent the first days of her life in a hospital. Tammy and Todd decided to partner with St. Jude after gaining first-hand experience of the strain of worrying about a child’s health.
“No parent should have to watch their child fight for his or her life,” says Whitworth. “For those parents living their worst nightmare, St. Jude takes away their financial burden while simultaneously offering them hope. Window World is passionate about contributing to St. Jude’s mission of saving lives and comforting families.”
Named for the patron saint of lost and hopeless causes, St. Jude is where doctors often send their toughest cases, because St. Jude has the world's best survival rates for some of the most aggressive forms of childhood cancers. Thanks to partners like Window World, no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
